"I rode horses as a kid but hadn't ridden in years until I went out and bought a fairly green Arabian a couple years ago (not the best, most well thought out plan I ever had). Since I wasn't made of money and lived in the middle of nowhere, the idea of $900/month trainers and exclusive riding schools seemed both intimidating and out of reach. I had made some progress with my horse, but felt as if I'd hit a wall and could go no further on my own. I found Denise's website and saw that she worked in my area and her prices seemed reasonable, so I decided to give her a try. She proved to be a lucky find. Her calm, down-to-earth style, patience, and experience have helped build my confidence as a rider and even got my horse, Cecil, to consider settling his butt down and behaving like a good horse. I can't say enough good things about Denise as a horse trainer and riding instructor. She knows her horses and handles them in a way that not only trains and teaches , but also relaxes the horse and builds trust.We had a problem horse that weaved in his stall and wasn't very pleasant to ride because he was so tense and jarring to ride. After just a month of training and riding with Denise, he settled right down and to our shock, he has even quit weaving in his stall. He is a totally different horse. He is calm to ride, easy to catch, and sweet on the ground.
All of the horses she has trained and worked for us love to see her. Many times they actually come to her car when she arrives. She rides with a relaxed and easy style which the horses respond to in a totally positive way. She seems to have a real understanding of the nature of horses and innately knows the proper way to handle each one. Her formal training in school and at the University is extensive and great, but her natural instincts and years of experience show through, loud and clear.
She is patient with riders in their lessons and has a clear way of getting her teachings across to the student.
